About the Job

Saptanga Nupura Quant Research (SNQR) is building sovereign-grade research infrastructure at the intersection of macroeconomics, markets, geopolitics, AI—and quantum-ready computation. As a Coding & Data Engineering Intern, you'll turn messy, multi-source real-world data into clean, documented, LLM-ready datasets and ship backend services that power our research and intelligence products.

Job Description

You will design data schemas, build robust ETL/ELT pipelines, enforce data quality contracts, and expose fast APIs to our research and product teams. You'll collaborate with economists, quants, and analysts to make datasets reliable, explainable, and production-safe.

Job Summary

• Convert unstructured/heterogeneous sources (CSV/Excel/JSON/APIs, web, logs) into normalized, versioned datasets suitable for analytics and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
• Implement lightweight backend services (e.g., FastAPI) that surface these datasets to internal tools and research apps.
• Instrument quality checks, lineage, documentation, and privacy safeguards so our systems are audit-ready and reproducible.

Job Responsibilities

• Build ingestion & transformation flows: incremental loads, deduping, idempotency, and schema evolution.
• Create data contracts (e.g., Pydantic models) and validation suites (nulls, ranges, regex, referential integrity).
• Design storage layouts (PostgreSQL/Parquet) and partitioning for scale; maintain dataset versioning and metadata.
• Prepare LLM/RAG artifacts: text normalization, chunking, embeddings, vector indices; manage prompt/response datasets for evaluation.
• Develop REST endpoints with FastAPI/Flask; add pagination, filtering, and auth hooks; write unit/integration tests.
• Implement scheduled jobs and monitoring (logging, alerts, retry/backoff); maintain runbooks and data dictionaries.
• Apply PII minimization & masking; follow internal governance for secure handling of sensitive data.
• Partner with researchers to translate research questions into data specs; deliver weekly demos and documentation.

• Proficiency in coding languages relevant to data engineering
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
• Ability to work collaboratively and on-site in Hyderabad
• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
• Strong Python (pandas/polars), SQL, data wrangling, JSON/regex, and API usage.
• Basic cloud literacy (AWS/GCP/Azure) and CI/CD.

Eligibility

• Final-year or graduated students from Engineering/CS/DS/Statistics or related PG programs.
• Availability for 4–6 months; ability to dedicate required hours consistently from home.
• University approval for internship (if applicable).
