Roles and Responsibilities

1. Pre-Operative Preparation:

    • Prepare the operating room, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures.
    • Ensure all equipment is sterilized and functioning properly.
    • Confirm patient identity, procedure, and site marking.
    1. Intraoperative Care:
    • Scrub in and assist surgeons during surgical procedures.
    • Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to infection control protocols.
    • Anticipate and respond to surgeons' needs during procedures.
    • Handle instruments, equipment, and supplies efficiently.
    1. Patient Safety:
    • Ensure patient safety and comfort during surgical procedures.
    • Monitor patient's vital signs and report any abnormalities.
    • Implement and maintain safety protocols to prevent patient harm.
    1. Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work collaboratively with the surgical team, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other nurses.
    • Communicate effectively with the team to ensure smooth workflow.
    • Provide clear and concise reports to the team.
    1. Mentorship and Leadership:
    • Mentor and guide junior staff members in OT procedures and protocols.
    • Participate in staff development and training programs.
    • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
    1. Documentation:
    • Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient care, surgical procedures, and inventory management.
  • Skills:
    • Strong knowledge of OT procedures, protocols, and equipment
    • Excellent hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Leadership and mentorship skills
