Job Title: Patching Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Patching Engineer to join our IT operations team. This role is critical in preparing, testing, and deploying software applications across enterprise environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing automated deployments, resolving packaging issues, and ensuring applications adhere to strict security, compliance, and performance standards.

You will work closely with internal stakeholders and vendors to develop reliable, secure, and consistent software delivery methods using tools such as InstallShield, SCCM/MCM, and ManageEngine Endpoint Central.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create, modify, and maintain software application packages using InstallShield, MSI, and scripting tools (e.g., PowerShell, VBScript).

  • Oversee the complete deployment lifecycle through SCCM, MCM, or ManageEngine, including:

  • Task sequences

  • Software updates

  • Remote installations

  • Test and validate packages in staging and production environments to ensure reliability, compatibility, and minimal user disruption.

  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to software packaging, deployment errors, and system conflicts.
  • Design and maintain deployment workflows, including rollback and remediation strategies for failed deployments.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation for package creation, version control, and deployment activities.
  • Collaborate with software vendors and internal teams to gather requirements, validate configurations, and manage updates.
  • Enforce security baselines and organizational compliance standards across all packaged applications.
  • Support broader endpoint management activities including OS imaging, driver management, and provisioning tasks.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proven experience with InstallShield, MSI packaging, and scripting (e.g., PowerShell, VBScript).
  • Hands-on knowledge of deployment platforms like SCCM (System Center Configuration Manager), Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MCM), or ManageEngine Endpoint Central.
  • Deep understanding of Windows OS architecture, registry handling, and application dependencies.
  • Familiarity with application lifecycle management, version control, and automation techniques.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams.
