Principal Software EngineerOverview
Prepaid Management Services is the division of MasterCard that concentrates on Prepaid Solutions such as our Multi-Currency Cash Passport product. Traditionally focused on the Travel sector this business unit is driving forward Prepaid throughout the world with innovative and leading solutions that we integrate with Global brands. This role is within the Prepaid Management Services Engineering Team. We provide high quality evolutionary and operational capabilities to support the MasterCard Prepaid Management Services business.
The Principal Software Engineer will be responsible for defining application guidelines for post compatibility, strategy for rationalization and re-use of services, application roadmap consistent with enterprise architecture, and a transition plan that favours evolution over transformation.

With strong capability across all technology stacks; designing and implementing secure, robust, enterprise-wide Software solutions; you will also be able to diagnose and problem solve complex issues within these environments.

The Principal Software Engineer will contribute to the setup of application design and development function, definition of process and procedures, and act as a liaison between the business and technology teams.

Role
Key Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Business and Architecture owners, and Systems analysts to define approach within economic framework of initiative

• Inspires team in taking end-to-end service ownership

• Coach senior developers on standards to extend application design capability into scrum teams

• Coordinate with program management team, architecture, and shared services to ensure enablers are defined and prioritized consistent with MPMS backlog and priority

• Develop Agile culture and instill self-management in business and technology team members

• Evaluating and improving the tools and frameworks used in software development

• Troubleshooting issues within the software systems

• Participate in backlog management and release planning and execution

• Ensures individual and team tasks are performed on-time by communicating and working closely with teams. Retains a focus on completion, identifying, resolving and timely escalation of issues

Key Skills and Experience
Required

• Proven experience of a wide range of technology environments (Java, Cloud, WebServices, .Net, Angular/Umbraco, CSS, Hadoop, Mongo, Relational Databases, React native architecture, Domain driven design, GraphQL, Redis, Axon Framework)

• Experience working in global, cross functional, multi-disciplined teams

• Have extensive experience in designing, building and maintaining high performant and scalable platform

• Excellent understanding of software design patterns, hardware/infra needs to build/support scalable applications

• Has skills to engage engineers across Technology organization to promote standard software patterns and reuse of common libraries and services

• Experience in the delivery of complex and critical projects

• Understanding and experience in SAFe / Agile concepts

• Strong communication ability to communicate with the globally diverse teams and the management

• Hands on experience in coding to perform POC and critical development

Desirable

• Understanding of CI/CD ( Jenkins, Sonar, Fortify, GIT, Junit, Maven )

• Understanding of development tools (ALM, Confluence, Sharepoint )

• Understanding of troubleshooting tools such as Splunk, Dynatrace etc.

• Understanding of performance profiling and tuning

• Understanding of mobile technologies ( , React, npm, Kotlin )

• Understanding of Prepaid Cards, Foreign Exchange and banking

• Code packaging, Publishing and Test automation
