Baker – Job Description

The Baker is responsible for preparing, baking, and presenting high-quality breads, pastries, and other baked goods. This role ensures consistency, food safety, and creativity in all products while maintaining a clean and efficient kitchen environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and bake a variety of breads, pastries, cakes, cookies, and specialty items.
  • Follow established recipes and production schedules to ensure product consistency.
  • Measure and mix ingredients using mixers, ovens, and other baking equipment.
  • Monitor baking processes, adjust temperatures/timers, and ensure products are properly finished.
  • Decorate and finish bakery items as needed (icing, glazing, garnishing).
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and baking areas.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards.
  • Manage ingredient inventory and notify management when supplies need replenishment.
  • Assist in developing new recipes and seasonal menu items.
  • Package baked goods and prepare them for display or customer orders.
  • Provide excellent communication and teamwork with kitchen staff and management.

Qualifications

  • Previous baking or culinary experience preferred (commercial or professional setting).
  • Knowledge of dough preparation, proofing, and baking techniques.
  • Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
  • Strong attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Understanding of food safety regulations (ServSafe certification is a plus).
