Civil Engineer/Estimation Engineer

Designing, planning and overseeing construction projects from start to finish. Preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for various construction projects, from initial conceptual stages to detailed bid proposals. Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

· Design, develop, create and maintain small-scale through to large-scale construction projects in a safe, timely and sustainable manner

· Conduct on site investigations and analyse data (maps, reports, tests, drawings and other)

· Carry out technical and feasibility studies and draw up blueprints that satisfy technical specifications

· Assess potential risks, materials and costs

· Provide advice and resolve creatively, any emerging problems/deficiencies

· Prepare cost estimates and BOQs for proposals and bids

· Preparing and implementing project plans

· Perform detailed quantity take-offs for all construction elements (e.g., concrete, steel, finishes, MEP, earthwork) using relevant software and tools.

· Obtain competitive quotes from suppliers and subcontractors for materials, equipment, and specialized services.

· Analyze labor, material, and equipment costs, including overheads and profit margins, to prepare comprehensive and competitive bid proposals.

· Identify potential risks and opportunities related to cost and schedule during the estimation process.

· Prepare detailed bill of quantities (BOQ) and cost breakdowns.

· Maintain organized records of all estimation documents, including drawings, specifications, correspondence, and quotations.

· Generate clear and concise reports on estimated costs, variations, and potential cost-saving opportunities.

· Present estimates and proposals to senior management for review and approval.

· Reviewing government regulations and ordinances

· Monitoring and optimizing safety procedures, project progress, and regulatory compliance

· Making recommendations or presenting alternative solutions to problems

· Confidently liaising with clients and other professional subcontractors

· Project management duties (e.g. managing budgets, resources, and deadlines; acquiring and compiling quotes, etc.)

· Keep abreast of market trends, material prices, labor rates, and construction methods to ensure estimates are current and accurate.

· Conduct value engineering studies to identify cost-effective alternatives without compromising quality or performance.

· Analyze project historical data and actual costs to refine future estimates and improve accuracy.

Requirements:

· Diploma/ Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying

· Minimum of 4-6 years of experience in civil and structural construction

· Proven track record in managing and coordinating construction projects

· Strong technical knowledge of civil and structural engineering principles

· Demonstrable experience in estimating for commercial buildings, residential projects, industrial facilities, infrastructure projects.

· Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, labor productivity, and equipment.

· Proficiency in quantity take-off software and methodologies.

· Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.

· High level of attention to detail and accuracy.

· Ability to read and interpret complex architectural, structural, and MEP drawings and specifications.

· Experience in working on large-scale construction projects

· Excellent communication and leadership skills

· Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment

· Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
