Job Purpose
To execute mine planning activities and implement the plans in day to day mine operation in accordance with the IBM approved mine plan, supervise the implementation of environment protection measures, drilling and mine development activities for systematic and scientific mine development to achieve targeted production of Limestone & Shale of the requisite quality on continuous basis for uninterrupted supply of ROM to cement plant while ensuring safety of all employees with the aim of Zero Harm and Zero Accident.

Job Context: What are the specific aspects of the job that provide a challenge to the jobholder in the context of the Unit/Zone?

Job Challenges: Baga Cement Works is a new unit of UltraTech Cement Limited with effect by change of ownership from JAL on , with the installed annual capacity of 29.70 lacs MT of clinker manufacturing. The plant has a designed capacity of 10000 TPD of clinker production. The plant feeds to two Grinding units namely Bagheri (HP) and Roorkee (UK).

Baga Cement Plant was commissioned in the year 2010 in Mangal Panchayat block, Tehsil Arki, District Solan, State Himachal Pradesh with an investment of over 1400 Crores in support of the vision of HP Govt. for development of backward region of the state. The Plant is located at the border area of Districts Solan and Bilaspur.

Plant located in village Baga is at high altitude, installed with the stepped layout from 1260 mRL to 1430 mRL with lot of development activities in order to create suitable area in benches in order to accommodate the various sections of the Plant and developing the road network of about 10Kms for access and transportation. The Plant is located at a distance of 6 Kms from existing state highway.

It has vast reserves of good quality raw materials (limestone and shale) at the captive Baga Bhalag Limestone Mines which is located at adjoining hills of the plant setup. The Mining Lease area is of Ha. with the topmost elevation of 1647mRL in Baga Block (Shale Mine) and bottommost elevation of 825mRL in Bhalag Block (Limestone Mine).

1st class Mines Manger Certificate is a must.

KRA1 1.Limestone and Shale Production –

To execute and supervise the mine planning and development activities, to achieve the targeted production of Limestone & Shale of the requisite quality on continuous basis. 1.Co-ordinate and supervise the operation at different mine faces as per blend plan to ensure the supply of ROM of desired quality to the plant.

• Co-ordinate and supervise the drilling operation as per planning.

KRA2 2.Mine development –

To execute and supervise the mine development activities as per planning for systematic and scientific mine working. 1.Supervising the activities related to environmental and slope protective measures.

• New faces opening and development.

KRA3 3.Safety –

To implement and monitor safe working practices, safety standards and management initiatives for achieving the aim of Zero Harm and Zero Accident with clear focus on eliminating unsafe acts and occurrence of unsafe conditions 1.Ensuring Safety of all employees with the aim of Zero Harm and Zero Accident.

• To control unsafe acts and prevent unsafe conditions in mines for enhancing Safety.

KRA4 4.Cost optimization –

To implement cost optimization by implementation of effective cost control measures. 1.To execute and implement mine plans with focus on optimization of lead and lift for effective productivity improvement.

KRA5 5.People Management –

To train the team for skill development and capability building. 1.To build efficient teams and ensure harmony between the team members to achieve organisational objective.

• To ensure continuous learning and skill improvement of the sub-ordinates and providing timely feedback for development and growth.

KRA6 6.Maintenance of MIS and statutory compliance –

To ensure timely updations and maintenance of MIS. 1.To ensure 100% statutory compliance of applicable statutory provisions and no violations during shift operation.

• Updating the daily MIS in SAP and registers in respect of shift operation and operators efficiency.

KRA7 7.Management Systems –

To involve in management and system improvement initiatives and act accordingly. 1.To implement management improvement systems and SOPs in the shift operation while adhering to safety standards and procedures for standardization and continuous improvement.
