Job Title: Sr. Design Engineer

Location: Pune

GENERAL SUMMARY

Supports Design & validation activities and brings new products to market. Understands new product functional requirements and converts them to designs, tests and integrates components to produce final designs; and evaluates the design's overall effectiveness, cost, reliability, and safety. Creates and reviews material part specifications and bills of materials. Collaborates with internal manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, designers and product specialists to optimize designs for manufacturability. Utilizes CAD (Computer Aided Design) to develop concepts, model new designs and produce detailed engineering drawings. Review final models & drawings for manufacturability, fitments & ensure drawing quality as per standard.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

• Supports Design and development of new products utilizing advanced modeling tools and engineering principles.
• Complete Engineering change orders, Order engineering documents in ERP and PDM systems.
• Prepare and review Engineering drawings, Manufacturing drawings, 3D modelling, Assembly, BOM and documentation needed in the assigned activities. Review the outcome and ensure quality.
• Establish Drawings and models as per standards, Prepare SOP for design and CAD activities, improve efficiency and quality of design and drafting.
• Define Manufacturing process and routing for the components, address issues arising at the time of manufacturing.
• Provide engineering support for legacy products, legacy designs, and cost reduction efforts.
• Demonstrate strong collaboration skills and the ability to think creatively to create solutions, drive execution and focus on results.
• Interface with Manufacturing Engineers, Purchasing, suppliers and other functions during all phases of product development.
• Analyze new components, materials, and technologies to evaluate functionalities for all new product development.
• Comply with Design Control and Stage Gate processes while designing prototypes and products.
• Document records for all project proposal and associated activities.
• Perform other product development related duties as requested, directed, or assigned.

SKILLS

• Experienced in working with the mechanical design of Rotary equipment's preferably pumps.
• Experience in 3D modeling, Drawing and Engineering Documentation using computer aided design. Should have an expert level skill set in CAD preferably in Autodesk Inventor.
• Experience as a Key user in CAD application to establish SOP in 3D modelling, Drawings, and design activity.
• Expert understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing and relations to individual parts and overall assemblies (ANSI Y14.5). Experience in drawing checking, tolerance stack up & Design for manufacturing.
• Well versed in wide variety of production processes including (but not limited to) Machining, casting, welding, Polishing etc.
• Should have significant experience in the manufacturing industry, capable of defining Manufacturing process and resolve issues related to manufacturing and assembly.
• Experience in working with Vault-PDM and ERP preferably SAP.
• Experienced in developing concepts and detailing, execution of modelling and drawing packages during NPD, VAVE and Sustain activities.
• Strong interpersonal skills, proven project handling skills and a positive energy. Good team player.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Maintain focus on priorities. Maintain flexibility as priorities change. Be aware of short timelines from start to finish of project. 
• Utilize software programs such as (but not limited to) MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, MS PowerPoint.
• Ability to perform tear down of pumps & stand for long hours.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum of B.E degree in Mechanical Engineering and 8+ years of product design experience.
