Main Responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities

1. Compliance & Governance

2. Ensure compliance with all applicable Gujarat State Pollution Control Board (GPCB), CPCB, Factories Act, Environment Protection Act, Hazardous Waste Rules, and Occupational Safety laws.

3. Maintain statutory records (consent to operate, water/air consents, hazardous waste returns, safety audits).

4. Prepare for and manage inspections from regulatory authorities.

5. Safety Management

6. Lead implementation of ISO 14001, ISO 45001, IMS, and company-specific EHS policies.

7. Conduct regular risk assessments, HAZOP, and job safety analysis (JSA).
8. Drive incident investigation, root cause analysis (RCA), and closure of corrective & preventive actions (CAPA).

9. Ensure 100% usage and availability of PPEs.

10. Health & Wellbeing

11. Oversee occupational health programs including health check-ups, ergonomics, and wellness initiatives.

12. Coordinate with the factory medical team to handle occupational health risks and emergency preparedness.

13. Environment & Sustainability

14. Manage effluent treatment plant (ETP), sewage treatment plant (STP), air emission controls, and hazardous waste disposal.

15. Implement waste minimization, recycling, energy efficiency, and water conservation projects aligned with corporate sustainability targets.

16. Support ESG/BRSR reporting requirements for the factory.

17. Training & Culture Building

18. Design and execute EHS training calendar for employees, contract workers, and visitors.

19. Conduct safety induction, mock drills, fire safety, and emergency response exercises.

20. Promote a behaviour-based safety (BBS) culture and encourage reporting of near misses.

21. Leadership & Continuous Improvement

22. Lead the EHS team and coordinate with cross-functional departments to integrate safety into operations.

23. Drive safety kaizens, 5S, Gemba walks, and "Zero Harm" initiatives.
24. Benchmark with best practices in Gujarat industrial hubs (Ankleshwar, Dahej, Sanand, Hazira, etc.).

Experience and required competencies:

• 7–12 years in EHS management, preferably in chemical, engineering, metal, or manufacturing industries in Gujarat.
• Certifications: ISO 14001/45001 Lead Auditor, NEBOSH/OSHA preferred.
• Strong knowledge of Indian EHS legislation and global standards.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Data-driven decision-making with experience in EHS dashboards, KPIs, and audits.
• Crisis management and emergency handling capability.
• Proficiency in MS Office, SAP EHS/Gensuite/Enablon (if applicable).

Education:

• Education: B.Tech/M.Tech in Environment/Mechanical/Chemical Engineering OR Post Graduate in Environment/Safety Management. Diploma in Industrial Safety (DIS) from a recognized institute (mandatory).
