Role & responsibilities

Installation & Patching SQL Server.

Troubleshooting database Connectivity & network related issues.

Troubleshooting database performance issues and query tuning.

Experience in any H.A.(AlwaysOn, Clustering, mirroring, Log shipping, Replication)

Experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues, blocking and deadlocking issues, security issues, etc

Ability to identify and troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space and other resource contention.

Knowledge of indexes, index management.

Experience in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools.

Monitoring the database status, disk space, logs, space utilization.

Determines database management needs and recommends system

upgrades as necessary. Ensures that databases are restored in a timely and efficient manner in the event of system failure.

Assist developers with complex query tuning and schema refinement. Provide 24x7 support for critical production systems.

Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours.

Preferred candidate profile

Knowledge of database queries

Knowledge of database theory

Knowledge of database design

Knowledge about the RDBMS itself, e.g. Microsoft SQL Server or MySQL

Knowledge of structured query language (SQL), e.g. SQL/PSM or Transact-SQL

General understanding of distributed computing architectures, e.g. Client-server model

General understanding of operating system, e.g. Windows or Linux

General understanding of storage technologies and networking

General understanding of routine maintenance, recovery, and handling failover of a database
