Key responsibilities
  • Quality Control: Perform qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses to ensure the quality and safety of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished steel products.
  • Testing: Test substances for their composition, concentration, and adherence to established quality and safety standards.
  • Record Keeping: Prepare detailed reports, graphs, and charts, and maintain accurate records of all tests and analyses.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Clean, calibrate, and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments to ensure they are functioning correctly.
  • Troubleshooting: Investigate and troubleshoot production process issues and collaborate with other departments to resolve quality concerns.
  • Safety Compliance: Ensure all work is performed in accordance with safety guidelines, regulations, and company standards.
  • Method Development: Assist in developing and validating new analytical methods and improving existing processes. 
 
Required qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or a related field is typically required.
  • Experience in chemical analyses within a laboratory setting is often necessary.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory safety guidelines and regulations is essential.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in reporting is crucial.
