Position Summary

The Senior Tableau Developer will be responsible for building highly interactive, customizable Tableau reports for large datasets. The developer will blend enterprise data to create powerful dashboards, create action filters, parameters, and calculations for preparing dashboards and worksheets in Tableau. This role will also design and implement standards and processes to aid data visualizations and support. Successful candidates should have very strong SQL skills with sound knowledge of data warehouse and analytical models, and possess advanced skills developing intuitive and performant Tableau reports and dashboards. In addition, candidates should possess good communication, technical documentation, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with business intelligence analysts and business SMEs to determine business data reporting and analysis requirement.
• Capture and translate Business Requirements into technical solutions.
• Define, execute, and interpret SQL queries.
• Plan and size application-level development work in preparation for sprint development.
• Produce user stories based on specific user business requirements and maintain healthy backlogs.
• Design and create operational and analytical reports, and/or dashboards as required to support business needs.
• Execute unit, integration, functional testing as well as adjustments from user acceptance testing.
• Communicate project status updates and recommendations.
• Research source data and design solutions that provide high-performance visuals in Tableau.
• Validate business intelligence dashboards, scorecards, and reports against the data in the source systems or other user-facing systems.
• Champion dashboard quality, consistency, usability, and reliability by documenting and applying best practices to design and development.
• Establish standards and best practices for developing dashboards.
• Develop and follow best practices on code development and change management adhering to standards, code versioning, approval workflows, and deployments.
• Develop documentation templates appropriate for the role and generate business and technical documentation to augment best practices.
• Train and guide other junior developers and power users in Tableau development.
• Collaborate with technical staff and end users to understand and troubleshoot platform issues and develop appropriate solutions.
• Ensure that support requests are logged in the ticketing system, remediated within SLA bounds, and root cause analysis performed to mitigate future incidents.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5+ years of hands-on Tableau development experience.
• Expertise in developing performant Tableau dashboards through code and display optimizations.
• Ability to analyze and dissect user requirements to quickly iterate intuitive visualizations.
• Ability to interact with stakeholders, ask good questions, and propose best practice solutions to solve the business need.
• Good understanding of data visualization concepts and hands-on implementation experience to facilitate quick insight.
• Experience working in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
• Excellent SQL skills with ability to write complex queries which will run on millions of rows quickly.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, problem solving and organizational skills.
• Ability to take initiative and find creative and effective ways to get things done. Must be very detail oriented and execute with a mindset to turn out quality solutions to avoid rework.
• Attention to detail and ability to coordinate multiple tasks, set priorities and meet deadlines.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Media operations and finance reporting domain experience a plus.
• Tableau certified associate or professional certification a plus.
• Python experience is a plus.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering or management.
