Overview

The Data Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring the profiling, quality, consistency, and governance of data asset from source system to the master data across platform. Working within the MDM project team and a specific pod, aligned to a data asset, this role bridges data requirements with technical implementation to establish a single source of truth for key business data assets.

Primary Responsibilities

Data Profiling & Assessment: Analyses data sources to identify quality issues, inconsistencies, and gaps. Performs data profiling exercises to understand current state data landscapes and documents findings to inform acquisition strategy.

Requirements Gathering: Assist the Business Analyst in collaborating with business or data stakeholders to understand master data needs and translate source data into the specifications for ingestion the data into the mastering platform.

Data Quality Management: Establishes and documents data quality rules, validates data against business standards, and monitors ongoing data quality metrics. Identifies root causes of data issues and recommends remediation strategies. Engages with the Business Analyst and Business stakeholders to agree tolerance levels and target data structure for the mastered data.

Data Mapping & Integration: Maps data elements between source systems and the MDM platform, defining transformation rules and business logic. Works with data engineering to ensure accurate data ingestion and validation.

Governance & Standards: Supports the development and enforcement of data governance policies, naming conventions, and data standards. Helps support data stewardship models and ownership frameworks defined by Data Governance.

Reporting & Analysis: Assists in the creation of dashboards and reports to track data mastering, data quality improvements, and business value realisation. Assists in providing insights to stakeholders on master data impact and patterns.
