Description
Key Responsibilities 1. Legal Recovery & Remedial Management
  • Manage legal actions for delinquent accounts including Section 138, Section 9, arbitration, SARFAESI, and civil/criminal proceedings (depending on industry).
  • Coordinate with empaneled lawyers for filing legal notices, suits, and follow-ups.
  • Ensure timely preparation and submission of case documentation.
  • Monitor progress of legal cases and ensure closure within defined timelines.
2. Collections Management
  • Handle high-delinquency and NPA accounts requiring specialized recovery action.
  • Plan and execute field collections, repossessions, settlements, and negotiations.
  • Guide and support field recovery executives and agencies in managing tough accounts.
  • Drive recovery targets with a strong focus on reducing buckets and write-offs.
3. Vendor & Agency Management
  • Manage recovery agencies, repossession vendors, and legal service providers.
  • Ensure agency training, compliance, and performance monitoring.
  • Conduct periodic audits and review meetings with vendors.
4. Compliance, Governance & Documentation
  • Ensure all remedial and legal actions comply with RBI guidelines and company policies.
  • Maintain accurate MIS for litigations, collections results, settlements, and closures.
  • Support audits, risk reviews, and regulatory inspections.
5. Coordination & Stakeholder Management
  • Liaise with internal teams: Credit, Operations, Risk, Legal, and Sales.
  • Coordinate with police authorities, courts, local administration, and RTO for recovery actions.
  • Provide timely feedback to management on market behavior, fraud trends, and risk indicators.
Required Skills & Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of legal processes related to recovery.
  • Expertise in hard collections / remedial accounts (preferably in BFSI sector).
  • Ability to negotiate, persuade, and manage difficult customer interactions.
  • Understanding of local market and regional legal ecosystem.
  • Good communication skills in Hindi & English.
  • Strong MIS and reporting skills.
Qualifications
  • Education: Graduate/Postgraduate in Commerce, Business, Law, or related field.
  • Experience: 4–10 years in collections/legal recovery (banking/NBFC/fintech preferred).
  • Experience in managing chronic delinquency and legal remedies is essential.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Recovery from legal and remedial portfolio.
  • Reduction in NPA and write-off buckets.
  • Timely closure of legal cases.
  • Agency performance and compliance.
  • Documentation accuracy and regulatory adherence.
