Head of Operational Excellence - R&I Hub

L'Oreal Research & Innovation seeks a driven and experienced Head of Operational Excellence to spearhead the implementation of best-in-class operational practices within our R&I Hub. This pivotal role will orchestrate continuous improvement, optimize efficiency, and foster a culture of innovation by developing and executing comprehensive operational excellence roadmaps.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Roadmap Development & Implementation: Design and implement a tailored Operational Excellence roadmap for the R&I Hub, aligning with L'Oreal's global R&I strategy across Quality, EHS, Campus Management (including equipment), Analyses, and Real Estate projects.

  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage the Hub's Operational Excellence team, encompassing Quality, Safety, Security, Environment, Campus Management, Equipment, Analyses, and Real Estate (if applicable).

  • Crisis Management: Lead the local Hub's crisis management efforts (Quality and EHS), serving on the instruction team as needed.

  • Risk Management & Regulatory Compliance: Oversee major risk assessments (GHAP, project risk management), ensuring informed decision-making by Hub management. Maintain regulatory conformity across the campus.

  • Service orientated: Cultivate a service-oriented mindset, ensuring the reliable availability of equipment, efficient campus services, samples for tests, and seamless material access to empower scientists and facilitate their research endeavors.

  • Budget Management: Effectively manage CAPEX and OPEX for the Hub, including building, equipment, consumables, and operations. Optimize resource allocation to maximize ROI and improve cost efficiency while maintaining high-quality services.

  • Data Management & Digitalization: Ensure data quality and availability within the scope of responsibility. Actively participate in the rollout of centralized digital initiatives.

  • Training & Development: Facilitate training and upskilling of teams and managers on relevant methods, Quality, and EHS systems, supporting both fundamental practices and innovation.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with local R&I leadership, other R&I head of EO, Global OE teams, and other stakeholders to drive efficiency and innovation. Build strong relationships and communicate progress effectively.

  • Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Track KPIs and metrics related to operational excellence, providing regular updates to leadership. Identify improvement areas and measure initiative impact. Conduct internal audits for field verification.

  • Culture of Excellence: Cultivate a mindset of continuous improvement and promote best practices across the R&I Hub. Develop communication strategies to embed operational excellence principles within the organizational culture.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field. MBA or other relevant advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven success in leading and implementing operational excellence initiatives
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build trust across different levels and functions.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and developing effective solutions.
  • Experience with project management methodologies or Lean principles or EHS, Quality Systems and relevant tools.
