Job Description: Senior Academic Counsellor (Sales & Admissions)

Position Title: Senior Academic Counsellor

Location: Kottayam / Pala

Employment Type: Full-time

Role Overview

The Senior Academic Counsellor is responsible for driving student admissions by providing expert counselling, understanding student needs, recommending suitable courses/programs, and achieving monthly sales targets. This role also involves handling escalations, mentoring junior counsellors, and contributing to overall revenue growth for the institution.

Key ResponsibilitiesSales & Admissions

  • Convert leads through counselling (calls, walk-ins, online enquiries).
  • Understand each student's background, goals, and requirements to recommend the right course/program.
  • Achieve and exceed monthly/quarterly admissions and revenue targets.
  • Follow a structured sales pipeline from lead generation to enrolment.
  • Conduct follow-ups with prospective students to maximise conversions.

Counselling & Guidance

  • Explain program features, curriculum, career outcomes, fees, and admission procedures.
  • Build trust and rapport with students and parents to influence admission decisions.
  • Provide solutions to doubts related to course value, career opportunities, or payment options.

Leadership & Team Support

  • Mentor junior counsellors on product knowledge, sales techniques, and counselling quality.
  • Support the team with difficult leads and high-potential prospects.
  • Share conversion strategies and best practices to improve team performance.

Process Management

  • Maintain accurate records of leads, follow-ups, and conversions in the CRM system.
  • Coordinate with marketing, academics, and finance teams for smooth admission processing.
  • Participate in admission drives, seminars, and open-house events.

Reporting

  • Provide weekly/monthly reports on enquiries, pipeline status, and conversions.
  • Analyse lead quality and suggest improvements to marketing campaigns.

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate/Master's degree in any field.
  • 2–6+ years of experience in education sales/admissions counselling.
  • Strong sales orientation with proven track records in target achievement.
  • Excellent communication, persuasion, and negotiation skills.
  • Ability to handle student and parent queries confidently.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in EdTech, universities, coaching institutes, or training programs.
  • Working knowledge of CRM tools and lead management systems.
  • Ability to handle walk-ins, tele-counselling, and online conversions.
