Job Summary

The Commis I – Continental Cuisine is responsible for preparing and cooking a range of continental dishes while supporting senior chefs in maintaining high culinary standards. The role involves maintaining kitchen hygiene, mise-en-place, and ensuring consistency in food quality and presentation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook a variety of continental dishes including pastas, grilled items, roasts, soups, and sauces.
  • Ensure all mise-en-place is prepared and workstations are ready before service.
  • Follow standard recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen in accordance with HACCP standards.
  • Assist in receiving and properly storing food items and supplies.
  • Monitor inventory and inform supervisors of stock requirements.
  • Minimize food waste and ensure efficient use of ingredients.
  • Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
  • Stay updated with new trends and techniques in continental cuisine.
  • Assist in training junior staff or interns when needed.

Requirements

  • 1 to 2 years of professional experience in a continental kitchen.
  • Culinary diploma or relevant formal training preferred.
  • Good knowledge of basic European cooking methods and ingredients.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays.

Job Summary

The Kitchen Trainee – Continental Cuisine will assist the kitchen team with food preparation and support tasks while learning continental cooking techniques. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about culinary arts and eager to gain hands-on experience in a professional kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support chefs in basic food preparation and mise-en-place for continental dishes.
  • Learn and assist with various cooking techniques such as grilling, sautéing, roasting, and baking.
  • Maintain cleanliness of workstations and kitchen equipment.
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Observe and assist during service to gain real-time experience.
  • Label and store ingredients properly under supervision.

Requirements
