The Assistant Manager – HD Maps / GIS Maps will oversee the end-to-end creation of high-precision digital maps for autonomous and ADAS applications. The role involves managing daily operations, supervising mapping teams, ensuring data quality, coordinating with cross-functional teams, and delivering projects on time. The candidate should have strong technical expertise in GIS software, HD map formats, LiDAR/GPS/IMU data, and basic scripting, along with excellent organizational, communication, and team management skills.

Requirements

• Handle a team size of 100+ and manage Shrinkage, Attrition, Productivity, Quality, ETAs/Targets/SLA/TAT/EVALS, Performance assessment/review
• Bachelor's degree in Geoinformatics, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Remote Sensing, or a related field.
• 7+ years of experience in digital mapping, HD maps, GIS, or related domains
• Experience in managing mapping teams or projects preferred
• Proficiency in mapping/GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, Global Mapper)
• Working knowledge of HD map formats (OpenDRIVE, NDS, Lanelet2)
• Familiarity with LiDAR, GPS, IMU data, and point cloud processing.
• Basic scripting (Python, SQL) or data handling skills is a plus
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Proven ability to manage teams and multiple concurrent projects
• Problem-solving mindset with strong attention to detail

Job responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end HD map/GIS maps creation, including data acquisition, preprocessing, annotation, and validation.
• Manage and monitor daily operations to meet project timelines and quality benchmarks.
• Assign tasks, track progress, and support junior team members in technical and operational duties.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including GIS analysts, software developers, QA, and field data teams.
• Coordinate with project managers to track deliverables, milestones, and risks.
• Conduct regular status meetings and generate project reports for stakeholders.
• Review and validate HD map layers, including lanes, traffic signs, road geometry, and landmarks, using tools like ArcGIS, QGIS, or custom platforms.
• Ensure data alignment with standards such as OpenDRIVE, NDS, or other formats used in autonomous vehicle applications.
• Identify and troubleshoot issues in map data or processing pipelines.
• Implement and monitor QA/QC processes to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with project specifications.
• Support continuous improvement by documenting issues, proposing solutions, and optimizing workflows.
• Provide mentorship, training, and guidance to mapping operators, technicians, and analysts.
• Ensure adherence to operational protocols and safety standards, especially for field data operations.
