In this role
The Chief Business Officer (CBO) - PoS will be responsible for leading BharatPe's Point-of-Sale portfolio (Speaker & EDC) with complete ownership of business growth, merchant network expansion, revenue maximization, and profitability. The role demands a strategic, data-driven leader with expertise in payments, merchant acquisition, and device-led fintech ecosystems. The CBO will shape the long-term vision, steer the business P&L, and create the innovation roadmap to deliver solutions that create value for merchants while solidifying BharatPe as a category leader.
Responsibilities will include
P&L Ownership & Strategic Leadership
- Lead and own the PoS business P&L and drive profitable scale through strategic investments, ecosystem expansion, and new business models (subscriptions, value-added services, monetizable device experiences).
- Establish BharatPe as a market leader in payment devices through innovation, differentiated offerings, and
- competitive positioning.
- Develop and execute strategic plans to enhance revenue, introduce new monetization models, and optimize cost
- centers to improve profitability.
- Champion next-gen device concepts: Android POS, hybrid QR+Sound devices, smart displays, multi-app POS, offline UPI, tap-to-pay integrations, and AI-driven diagnostics.
- Lead decisions on build-vs-buy, platform standardization, and device architecture choices to future-proof the
- business.
Merchant Network Expansion & GTM Excellence
- Build an enviable, engaged, and monetizable network of high-quality merchants for BharatPe across markets.
- Design and implement a comprehensive Go-To-Market (GTM) strategy including partnerships & alliances to expand merchant reach, onboarding quality, and penetration.
- Define segmentation-led merchant acquisition models, improving merchant lifecycle value and stickiness
- Establish robust mechanisms to reduce churn by building a highly accountable, number-driven sales engine.
- Strengthen demand forecast and work closely with Device Operations team to ensure timely supply to merchants
Stakeholder & Ecosystem Management
- Build strong, long-term relationships with key stakeholders including merchants, channel partners, financial
- institutions, OEMs, and industry associations.
- Represent BharatPe at industry forums to strengthen brand presence and establish leadership in the PoS ecosystem.
Cross-Functional Executive Collaboration:
GTM & Business Leaders: device penetration strategy, merchant cohorts, cross-sell models
- Product & Tech: joint ownership of device firmware, merchant app integrations, and platform evolution
- Marketing: category positioning, launch communications, device-led brand building
- Finance: long-term investment planning, P&L performance, board reviews

Qualification & Experience

- Post Graduate Degree / MBA - Preferred Premiere B School.
- 18+ years in payments, fintech, consumer electronics, POS devices, IoT, or adjacent industries.
- Experience in executive leadership roles with full P&L control.
- Strong understanding of device technology, supply chain dynamics, regulatory requirements, and merchant ecosystem.
- Strong global exposure to supply chain, OEM partnerships, and device innovation.
- Strategic thinker with excellent stakeholder management and execution focus
