1. Role Summary
The Quality Engineer will be responsible for ensuring product and process quality across all manufacturing operations. The role includes handling VMS, calibration and maintenance of all types of gauges/instruments, implementation of GD&T, conducting inspections, and supporting ISO 9001:2015 compliance.
2. Key Responsibilities
Quality Assurance & Control
- Conduct incoming, in-process, and final inspection of components and assemblies.
- Ensure proper usage, calibration, and maintenance of
all types of gauges and measuring instruments
. - Prepare and maintain inspection reports, quality records, and non-conformance documentation.
- Perform dimensional inspection using VMS, Vernier, Micrometer, Height Gauge, Dial Gauges, Plug gauges, Ring gauges, and other precision instruments.
GD&T & Technical Requirements
- Interpret engineering drawings using
GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
. - Validate critical dimensions and tolerances aligned with drawing specifications.
- Support production teams to resolve dimensional issues and reduce defects.
Quality Systems & Standards
- Implement and maintain
ISO 9001:2015
quality management system requirements. - Assist in internal audits, corrective actions, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities.
- Ensure adherence to SOPs, Work Instructions, and process quality plans.
Process Improvement
- Identify and drive improvements in product quality, process capability, and inspection methodologies.
- Support CAPA implementation using tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone, Pareto Analysis, etc.
- Collaborate with Production, Engineering, and Supplier Quality for problem-solving and defect reduction.
3. Skills & Competencies Required
- Strong knowledge of
VMS, gauges, and measuring instruments
. - Proficiency in
GD&T interpretation and dimensional measurement techniques
. - Good understanding of
ISO 9001:2015
documentation, audit processes, and compliance requirements. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and understand mechanical engineering drawings.
- Good communication skills and reporting ability.
- Working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
4. Qualifications & Experience
- Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in Quality Engineering in a manufacturing environment (preferably connectors, precision machining, or assembly-based industries).
- Experience in VMS measurement, instrument calibration, and quality inspection is preferred.
5. Additional Requirements
- Understanding of 5S, Kaizen, and Lean manufacturing practices.
- Willingness to work closely on shop floor operations.
- Ability to handle customer complaints and coordinate with suppliers for quality matters.
