Job Title
Philanthropy Partner, Mumbai
About Accelerate Indian Philanthropy (AIP)
AIP aims to be India's leading organization for spurring private philanthropy to meet India's development challenges.
India has seen a rapid rise in average wealth over the last decade. In fact, we are going through a transition similar to the United States in the late 19th/early 20th century which saw tremendous wealth creation. But individual philanthropic giving lags far behind in comparison.
The majority of philanthropists still face significant headwinds when giving strategically, such as giving towards the end of their life, giving being a small portion of their total wealth, and difficulty in finding trusted philanthropic advisors to help them navigate sectors and organizations.
AIP works with philanthropists in India and with Indian diaspora to give more, give sooner, and give better. It is a peer network that aims to catalyze giving through shared learning and experiences. Our vision is to significantly catalyze the strategic philanthropy movement in India, thereby contributing to sustainable, inclusive socio-economic development at scale.

Position Summary
The role entails growing the network and engaging with philanthropists (across diverse profiles and stages of giving) to unlock philanthropic capital and facilitate their giving journey - how to give more, give sooner, and give better. The person will need to build personal relationships with emerging philanthropists, understand their profile, motivation and ambition for giving, and work with them to design their giving strategy. This is a unique opportunity to unlock catalytic philanthropic giving in India.
As the network grows, the person will also support the leadership team in identifying and implementing timely shifts in overall strategy. The role provides opportunities to develop both thought leadership in philanthropy and social impact, as well as pragmatically leverage stakeholder engagement skills in working with philanthropists to give more strategically.
Roles and Responsibilities
Key responsibilities of the Philanthropy Partner include:
- Develop, build, maintain a philanthropist pipeline by identifying and leveraging multiple prospecting channels, and partner outreach capabilities.
- Enable unlocking philanthropic capital by maintaining a strong focus on supporting early stage givers.
- Drive philanthropic commitment through the Accelerate India Pledge, where individuals commit 5% of net worth over lifetime, of which Rs 50 crores would be invested in the first decade.
- Shape the giving landscape in India by advising philanthropists on their giving strategy, supporting them with high quality knowledge products, and embedding AIP into the philanthropic ecosystem in India.
- Be the primary point of contact for UHNIs with regard to their philanthropic giving, maintaining sustained engagement with them through a range of initiatives including peer and SME connects, giving plans, thematic sessions, convening events, philanthropic case studies, and more.
- Support the organization in building a strong movement for Philanthropy in diverse ways such as facilitating philanthropist interaction to create inspiring case studies, podcasts, amplifying AIP's work on social media and other channels etc.
- Work with the CEO and other advisors to refine and implement the outreach and engagement plan for Indian UHNIs domestically and the Indian diaspora overseas.
- Instill an entrepreneurial culture and mindset for the organization and take an iterative approach to catalyzing strategic philanthropy.
- Identify and forge working partnerships with other critical stakeholders like wealth managers, impact consultants, foundations, non-profit organisations, to provide value to philanthropists and embed AIP in the ecosystem.
