Roles and Responsibilities of a QA/QC Engineer

  1. Quality Planning & Implementation

  2. Develop and implement project-specific Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) plans.

  3. Ensure that all works are carried out in compliance with drawings, specifications, and standards.

  4. Establish inspection and test plans (ITPs) for construction activities.

  5. Inspection & Testing

  6. Conduct material and workmanship inspections at all stages of construction.

  7. Coordinate with third-party laboratories for material and field test requirements.

  8. Verify test results and ensure compliance with project specifications and codes.

  9. Documentation & Reporting

  10. Prepare and maintain QA/QC documentation including inspection reports, test certificates, and material approvals.

  11. Maintain Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and Corrective Action Reports (CARs).

  12. Submit daily, weekly, and monthly quality reports to management and consultants.

  13. Coordination & Communication

  14. Liaise with the client, consultant, and project team for inspections and approvals.

  15. Coordinate with site engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure quality requirements are met.

  16. Provide technical support to site teams regarding quality standards and procedures.

  17. Compliance & Standards

  18. Ensure compliance with relevant codes (IS codes, ASTM, BIS, etc.), safety standards, and client specifications.

  19. Support audits and inspections by client/third-party agencies.

  20. Continuous Improvement

  21. Identify recurring quality issues and implement preventive measures.

  22. Conduct training sessions and toolbox talks to improve quality awareness among site teams.
  23. Promote a right first time" approach to minimize rework and delays.
