Role Overview:
The Marine Operations Manager oversees the daily operational performance and regulatory compliance of a fleet of vessels. The role is pivotal in ensuring safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible cargo operations, vessel navigation, crew management, and maintenance coordination. This position also serves as the primary link between the company and external stakeholders, including Owners, charterers, and SIRE companies.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Vessel Oversight
• Monitor and support safe cargo operations, navigation, and voyage planning.
• Ensure timely and efficient turnaround at ports.
2. Safety & Regulatory Compliance
• Ensure full compliance with IMO regulations, MARPOL, SOLAS, ISM Code, and other international and local maritime laws.
• Coordinate and conduct inspections (e.g., SIRE, CDI), and pre-vetting preparations.
• Promote a strong safety culture and lead incident investigations and root cause analysis, where required.
3. Team management & Training
• Mentor team members for their growth
• Support training and development to maintain compliance.
• Conduct performance reviews and appraisals of team members.
4. Technical Coordination
• Liaise with the technical team to ensure timely maintenance and repairs.
• Participate in dry dock planning, execution, and follow-up.
• Monitor bunker consumption and vessel performance metrics.
• Co-ordinate vessel takeover and handover.
5. Commercial & Port Coordination
• Monitor and guide team members for port calls, agency services, berth arrangements, and terminal communications.
• Monitor voyage execution and intervene to resolve operational delays or inefficiencies.
6. Documentation & Reporting
• Manage claims and communications with P&I Clubs and insurers.
8. Stakeholder Engagement
• Serve as the primary contact with port authorities, PnI, class societies, oil majors, and regulatory agencies.
• Maintain strong working relationships with third-party service providers, clients, and internal departments.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
• Certificate of Competency Class 1 (Master Mariner)
• Previous sailing experience as Master on oil tankers (Crude/Product/IMO preferred).
• Minimum 5 years of shoreside experience in tanker fleet management.
• In-depth knowledge of tanker operations, vetting inspections, and safety management systems.
• Strong leadership, decision-making, and crisis management skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Proficient in MS Office, PMS Systems, and reporting tools.
Preferred:
• Experience working with major oil companies and familiarity with OCIMF requirements.
• Training or certification in incident investigation, risk management, or emergency response.
• Knowledge of TMSA and vetting
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: ₹200, ₹250,000.00 per month
