As an Senior SDET specialising in Backend testing, you will design and build scalable automation frameworks for API testing and microservices, ensuring that our backend services are stable and high-performing. You'll collaborate closely with engineers to implement testing strategies that ensure robustness and reliability of the entire system. You will play a key role in ensuring the scalability, reliability, and performance of our core platform, while also mentoring junior team members and driving continuous improvements in our testing processes.

• Lead the QA Strategy: Design, develop, and own the end-to-end test automation strategy for our backend microservices and ML systems, ensuring high-quality and reliable releases.
• Build Automation Frameworks: Architect and implement scalable test automation frameworks for APIs (gRPC, WebSockets), microservices, and event-driven architectures. You will use technologies like Java and Python and modern testing libraries.
• Drive AI/ML Quality: Develop and execute testing methodologies for AI/ML models and pipelines, focusing on data validation, model performance, and end-to-end quality validation.
• Enhance CI/CD Pipelines: Collaborate with SRE to integrate automated test suites into our CI/CD pipelines (Buildkite). You will help us achieve continuous testing and deliver faster feedback to development teams.
• Mentor and Coach: Act as a technical mentor for junior engineers, providing guidance on automation best practices, code reviews, and career growth.
• Lead Quality Initiatives: Perform root cause analysis for complex backend issues, identify systemic problems, and implement preventative measures to improve overall system stability.
• Advance with AI: Proactively identify and champion opportunities to leverage AI and generative AI tools to improve test case generation, test data management, and test automation efficiency.

• Experience: 7+ years of experience as an SDET, with a strong focus on backend and API testing.
• Backend Expertise: Deep, hands-on experience in building and maintaining test automation frameworks for backend services, APIs, and event-driven systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Technical Stack: Proficiency in Java or Python and experience with automation tools such as TestNG, Rest Assured, JUnit, and performance testing tools like Locust or K6.
• AI/ML Familiarity: Experience in testing or validating AI/ML models, pipelines, or data-driven systems is a significant plus. An understanding of prompt engineering and the use of GenAI for testing is highly valued.
• CI/CD & DevOps: Experience with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and cloud platforms (e.g., GCP, AWS).
• Leadership: Proven experience mentoring other engineers and leading technical projects.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.

• Artificial Intelligence (AI) Integration: Proven ability to integrate AI concepts or tools into end-to-end testing workflow execution.
• AI Mentorship: Experience mentoring peers on the usage of AI-driven testing tools or methodologies.
• AI for Efficiency: Demonstrated capability to identify inefficiencies in existing processes that could be effectively solved or improved using AI technologies.
• Test Coverage Leadership: Ability to lead efforts to improve test coverage and ensure tests are kept up-to-date with changes in the backend services and ML models.

Working at Suki:

Our hybrid model offers the perfect balance of in-office collaboration and remote flexibility which includes three days in the office (Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday) and two days work from home (Thursday and Friday).The role is located in Bangalore and will require working from office three days a week.
