Project Manager / Maintenance Head / QAQC Head (as per project)

Role Purpose

To lead and execute complete Mechanical Maintenance & Inspection (M&I) activities for Storage Tanks (FRT + Fixed Roof) and Pressure Vessels/Spheres (LPG & Hydrogen) including inspection planning, NDT, repair execution, quality documentation, safety compliance and final handover as per applicable codes/standards and client procedures.

Scope of Equipment

• External Floating Roof Tanks (EFRT) roof, pontoon, seal, roof drain, legs, shell, bottom
• Fixed Roof Tanks – roof plates, rafters, nozzles, PV valve systems, manholes
• LPG Spheres / Bullets – shell thickness monitoring, weld joints, nozzles, supports, valves
• Hydrogen Spheres/Vessels – special monitoring for hydrogen service integrity (leak tightness, material degradation risks, high criticality)
• Tank farm appurtenances: foam system parts, stairways, platforms, earthing, dyke/drain

Key Responsibilities (KRAs)

1) Inspection Planning & Execution (Tanks + Spheres)

• Prepare and execute inspection plan: external, internal, on-stream checks as per site requirement.
• Conduct/coordinate visual inspection, thickness survey (UT), MPT, DPT, Vacuum Box testing, holiday test (as applicable).
• Identify deterioration: corrosion, pitting, weld defects, settlement indications, leakage, distortion, roof/shell abnormalities.
• Coordinate RCA (root cause) and propose repair methodology with QA/QC & client.

2) Tank Repair & Overhauling (Floating + Fixed)

• Execute/monitor major repairs including:

• Annular plate replacement / bottom plate replacement / patch repairs

• Shell course repair / nozzle repair / manhole & gasket replacement
• Roof plate repair (fixed roof), rafters & structural members
• Wind girder repair/replacement
• Foam dam / foam plate / foam pourer / foam chamber related mechanical works

• Floating roof maintenance: rim seal (primary/secondary) change, roof drain hose/pipe repair, roof legs setting/repair, pontoon leak rectification

• Ensure fit-up, welding, NDT acceptance, dimensional checks, leak testing and restoration.

3) Sphere (LPG & Hydrogen) M&I Activities

• Perform/coordinate:

• Shell & nozzle inspection, thickness mapping, weld joint NDT

• Inspection of supports/columns/skirts, base plates, anchor bolts
• Valve replacement/overhauling coordination: ESDV/MOV/SDV, isolation valves, drains/vents

• Leak testing / tightness checks as per procedure

• Maintain strict safety controls for flammable & hydrogen service:

• Gas freeing / purging / inerting coordination

• Hot work controls, continuous gas monitoring, exclusion zones

4) Welding, NDT & QA/QC Compliance

• Ensure WPS/PQR compliance, welder qualification validity, consumables control, preheat/PWHT (if required).

• Coordinate NDT agencies and ensure documentation:

• NDT reports, thickness logs, repair maps, weld traceability, punch list closure.

• Support hydrotest/pneumatic test preparation, calibration certificates, and test packs.

5) Shutdown/Turnaround Execution & Coordination

• Plan manpower/tools/scaffolding requirements; coordinate day-wise job execution.
• Work with planning team for look-ahead, constraints removal, material readiness.
• Interface with client inspection/third-party for stage-wise clearances.

6) Safety, PTW & Compliance

• Implement PTW system: confined space, hot work, working at height, lifting/rigging.
• Ensure LOTO, blinding, isolation plans, gas testing, rescue plan readiness.
• Conduct TBT, ensure housekeeping, barricading, and safe access for tank/sphere jobs.

7) Documentation & Handover

• Prepare final dossiers: inspection reports, repair records, NDT packs, test packs, as-built drawings (if applicable).
• Ensure handover with "mechanically complete" + "inspection cleared" status.
