Staff Nurse, Emergency Department

Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Support:
- Assist doctors and nurses during emergency procedures and patient examinations.
- Monitor patients' vital signs and report abnormalities immediately.
- Perform ECGs, initiate IV lines, catheterization, wound dressing, splinting, and other basic procedures as directed.
- Help in triaging and prioritizing patient care based on the severity of conditions.
- Prepare and maintain equipment for emergency procedures (defibrillators, suction machines, oxygen cylinders, etc.).
- Assist in shifting and transporting patients safely within the hospital or to other facilities.
Documentation & Coordination:
- Maintain patient records, procedure notes, and incident documentation accurately.
- Ensure proper labelling and dispatch of samples to the laboratory.
- Coordinate with diagnostic departments for timely investigations and reports.
- Update the emergency logbook and maintain equipment usage records.
Inventory & Maintenance:
- Ensure all emergency supplies, medicines, and consumables are adequately stocked.
- Check functionality of equipment and promptly report any malfunction.
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of the emergency area at all times.
Emergency Preparedness:
- Participate in mock drills and emergency response training programs.
- Provide first aid and basic life support when required.
- Assist during mass casualty incidents and disaster management situations.
Qualification & Experience:
- Diploma / B.Sc. in Emergency Medical Technology (EMT) or related field.
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience in an emergency or trauma care setting preferred.
- Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) / Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (preferred).
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of emergency care procedures and hospital protocols.
- Ability to stay calm and work effectively under pressure.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Attention to detail and patient-centered attitude.
- Willingness to work in shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
