Role & responsibilities

  • Develop and implement procurement / purchasing strategies aligned with company goals (cost reduction, quality, delivery timelines etc.).
  • Identify, evaluate, select, and onboard suppliers; maintain and update supplier database.
  • Negotiate contracts, prices, purchase terms & delivery schedules with suppliers and vendors.
  • Issue, monitor, and manage Purchase Orders (POs) from requisition to delivery.
  • Ensure materials / goods procured meet quality and specification requirements. Coordinate with quality control / technical teams where required.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to avoid stockouts or excess. Coordinate with inventory / stores / operations team.
  • Evaluate supplier performance regularly (on quality, cost, timely delivery etc.) and take corrective actions.
  • Analyze market trends and pricing to allow forecasting & budget planning.
  • Maintain accurate purchase records, contracts, documentation, supplier correspondence.
  • Work with finance to ensure timely payments, reconcile invoices vs POs, and manage cost variances.
  • Identify costsaving opportunities (bulk purchases, longterm contracts, alternative sourcing etc.).
  • Implement and oversee procurement policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and ensure compliance (internal policies, legal, regulatory).
  • Lead, mentor and manage the purchasing team; provide training, set KPIs, monitor performance.
  • Coordinate with other departments (e.g. engineering / projects / site operations / contracts) to understand material / goods requirements accurately and ensure procurement supports project schedules.
  • Use/digitalize procurement tools, ERP systems, reports & dashboards to track procurement performance (cost, delivery, quality etc.).
