Job Description

Position title: Service Engineer

Location: Works office / Regional office

Full/Part-time: Full time

Organizational relationships

  • Reports to: Deputy Area Technical Manager, Zonal Manager

  • Supervises: Senior technicians and technicians

  • Functional relationship with: Works office, Naval Offices / CG offices/ Repair Agencies concerned, End Users

Academic qualification

  • Essential: Engineer Diploma + 2.d + 2.e

  • Desired: Engineer Graduate

Experience

  • Total: 0 to 1years

Technical skills

Ø Mechanical / Electrical background with service, maintenance, repairs background.

Ø Knowledge of pump sets, diesel generator sets, compressors and other electro mechanical machines and maintenance of the same.

Soft skills

Ø Effective communication skills

Ø Ability to deal with customers & external agencies

Ø Self Motivation for disciplined execution with perfection

Primary Responsibilities

A) New orders: installation-commissioning

§ Commissioning

i. To conduct commissioning trials – proving the system training to operators on operations & maintenance

ii. To rectify defects noted during commissioning

iii. SAT commissioning report

B) Back up services

§ SE visit - Assessment of Complaint & feed back

C) Job works –

§ Execution of work order

i. To collect / Forward Serviceability Check Units to works

ii. To collect / Forward Calibration Instruments to works

§ Dispatch

i. To confirm receipts to works HO

§ Billing

i. To receive feedback from customers

Secondary responsibilities

A) New orders: Installation-commissioning

§ Warranty

i. Responsible for periodic follow up visits and collection of performance data at least 2 times during warranty (in absence of any complaints)

§ Warranty complaints

i. Engineers visits

ii. Analysis / data collection

iii. Rectification – including modifications, if required

B) Back up services

§ To collect operational data

§ To study log book

§ To enquire / obtain details about complaints

§ To enquire / obtain details about first occurrences

§ To conduct trial runs / test as required

§ To analyze / identify defect & recommend corrective measures / shortfalls

C) Job works –

§ Feedback – plant status assessment & related feedback covering,

i. Defects reported against actual defects

ii. Defects not reported / observed

iii. Confirmed requirement of spares

iv. Anticipatory requirement

v. Calibrations needed

vi. Serviceability check

vii. Ships schedule

§ Quotation

i. To prepare an offer based on present status feedback

ii. To submit the tender

§ Work order

i. To collect exemption certificates

§ Execution of work order

i. Dismantling at Site and cleaning / inspection for finalizing materials requirements

§ Dispatch

i. Delivery – to forward duly endorsed DC's to works

ii. Repairs / assembly / refitting

iii. To process additional materials requirements during repairs

iv. To conduct harbor trials / sea trials

v. To forward completion certificates
