Summary:
The Commis I (South Indian) is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting authentic South Indian dishes under the supervision of senior chefs. The role requires a solid understanding of South Indian flavors, ingredients, and cooking techniques, ensuring high-quality food and consistency in every dish served.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook a variety of South Indian dishes such as dosas, idlis, vadas, upma, sambar, rasam, and regional specialties.
- Follow standard recipes, portion sizes, and presentation guidelines.
- Assist in menu development and contribute ideas for new South Indian items.
- Ensure all mise en place is prepared and organized before each service.
- Maintain the highest standards of food hygiene, sanitation, and safety at all times.
- Monitor the freshness and quality of ingredients and report any discrepancies to the senior chef.
- Properly label, store, and rotate food items to minimize waste.
- Assist in receiving and storing supplies according to company procedures.
- Work collaboratively with other kitchen sections to ensure smooth operations.
- Comply with all HACCP and kitchen safety standards.
- Take responsibility for assigned kitchen equipment and ensure it is clean and well-maintained.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Diploma or Certificate in Culinary Arts or equivalent professional training.
- Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a similar role, specializing in South Indian cuisine.
- Strong knowledge of traditional South Indian recipes, spices, and cooking techniques.
- Good understanding of food safety and hygiene practices.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Team player with good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Flexible to work in shifts, including weekends and holidays.
- Passion for authentic South Indian cuisine and attention to detail in food preparation and presentation.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long hours during service.
- Able to lift and move moderate weights as required in kitchen operations.
- Comfortable working in a hot and busy kitchen environment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: ₹15, ₹18,000.00 per month
