General Manager

The Role
Weatherford is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead our strategic manufacturing site in Baroda, India. This critical leadership role oversees production of Completion products across two product lines, managing over 200 employees across three shifts. Reporting to the VP, Managing Director – India, with dual report to Senior Director WCC Manufacturing, this role is accountable for delivering world-class Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Culture (SQDCC) while driving digital transformation and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

•    Lead full P&L accountability including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and financial targets with focus on optimizing manpower, materials, energy, and maintenance costs.

•    Drive facility strategy incorporating AI-driven analytics, smart automation, predictive maintenance, and Industry 4.0 technologies to achieve excellence in on-time delivery, operational efficiency, inventory management, and cost reduction.

•    Manage cross-functional teams across engineering, supply chain, quality, HR, and finance to optimize processes, standardize operations, and improve productivity metrics.

•    Champion zero-harm safety culture with rigorous HSE compliance, superior customer quality standards, and exceptional first pass yield performance.

•    Implement lean manufacturing principles including setup reduction, waste elimination, and continuous improvement to drive measurable performance and financial results.

•    Evaluate and implement new machinery, automation systems, and digital tools while leading equipment failure investigations and Root Cause Analysis.

•    Build high-performing teams through coaching, talent management, and succession planning with comprehensive skill development programs for critical roles.
 

Qualifications

•    Engineering Degree (preferably Mechanical) with 20+ years of manufacturing experience in heavy machinery/industrial equipment sectors.

• years supervisory experience managing professional staff and shop-floor labor in multi-shift environments with proven lean manufacturing success.

•    Strong background in production operations, supply chain, quality assurance, inventory control, and manufacturing systems (JD Edwards, Oracle OTM).

•    Experience in machining/assembly processes with high mix/low volume metal working environments.

•    Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing equipment, preventative/predictive maintenance, and Industry 4.0 technologies including automation and AI-driven tools.

•    Excellent leadership and communication skills in English and Hindi with ability to collaborate across matrix organizations and present to executive leadership.

•    Owner's mindset with bias for action, data-driven decision making, and comfort with ambiguity during organizational change.

•    Proficiency in MS Office with strong project management, problem-solving, and fiscal responsibility capabilities.

•    Willing to work hands-on at floor level and comfortable working in Baroda (Vadodara), Gujarat, outside major metropolitan areas.

•    Available to travel domestically and internationally as required. Legally authorized to work in India.
