Position Overview

The Costing Manager will be responsible for overseeing, analyzing, and controlling product costing, inventory valuation, and cost optimization for the business.

This role ensures accurate cost reporting, supports pricing decisions, and provides insights for improving profitability and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

1. Costing & Analysis

  • Develop and maintain product cost sheets, including raw materials, packaging, labor, overheads, and distribution.
  • Monitor actual production costs vs. standard costs and analyze variances.
  • Support new product development (NPD) by providing cost estimates and impact analysis.
  • Conduct cost-benefit analysis for process improvements and sourcing decisions.

2. Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Assist in preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts with a focus on cost elements.
  • Analyze cost trends and provide insights for strategic decision-making.
  • Monitor adherence to budgeted costs and highlight deviations.

3. Inventory & Control

  • Oversee inventory valuation in line with accounting standards.
  • Ensure accurate accounting of raw material, WIP, and finished goods.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain, Production, and Warehousing teams for stock reconciliations.

4. Compliance & Reporting

  • Prepare management reports on product profitability, plant efficiency, and cost savings.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and statutory requirements.
  • Liaise with internal and statutory auditors for cost-related audits.

5. Team & Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Lead and mentor the costing/accounts team.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Production, R&D, and Marketing teams to support business decisions.
  • Provide financial insights to support pricing strategy, promotions, and market competitiveness.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of costing methods (Standard, Marginal, Activity-Based Costing).
  • Proficiency in SAP and advanced Excel.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills for cross-functional coordination.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict timelines.

Qualifications & Experience

  • CA / CMA (Cost & Management Accountant) / MBA Finance.
  • 710 years of experience in costing and financial analysis, preferably in FMCG / Manufacturing.
  • Experience in handling multi-plant operations is an added advantage.
