Our team is small, fast, and hands-on, every design decision you make directly shapes the product millions could one day use.

Role Description:

We're seeking a Mechanical/Industrial Design Intern who's passionate about 3D modelling, industrial design, and rapid prototyping. You'll play a key role in shaping the physical design of VHSMO - from internal component layout and ergonomics to aesthetic form and manufacturability. This role sits at the intersection of engineering and design, helping turn functional hardware into an iconic handheld experience.

On the Job, You Will:


• Tackle design challenges with a scrappy, first-principles mindset


• Design and refine mechanical parts for next-generation VHSMO prototypes


• Diagnose root-cause issues across assemblies, mechanisms, and fitment


• Propose solutions through smart design iteration or manufacturability improvements


• Validate your ideas through hands-on prototyping, testing, and performance data


• Collaborate closely with our creative, electronics, & growth team, and manufacturing partners

Key Responsibilities:


• Design, iterate, and refine camera shells, button mechanisms, and internal component enclosures using Fusion 360 or SolidWorks


• Collaborate with the electronics team to ensure accurate fitment for PCBs, lenses, batteries, and connectors


• Build and test 3D-printable prototypes (FDM, SLA, SLS) to evaluate strength, assembly, ergonomics, and usability


• Work hands-on with the founding team to advance each prototype toward mass-production feasibility


• Translate early concepts into DFM-ready models, incorporating injection-moulding principles, draft angles, and parting-line strategies


• Produce rendered visuals, exploded views, and technical drawings for documentation, investor materials, and manufacturer communication

Technical Requirements:


• Proficiency in Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or Rhino for precise 3D modelling and mechanical assemblies


• Strong understanding of GD&T, tolerances, alignment, fitment, and mechanical design constraints


• Ability to perform basic tolerance stack-ups for assemblies and critical interfaces


• Strong experience with 3D printing and hands-on prototyping, including slicing, print orientation, support strategy, and post-processing

Bonus:


• Familiarity with DFM principles, including injection moulding basics such as draft angles, parting lines, undercuts, and part consolidation


• Experience designing enclosures for PCBAs, compact electronics, handheld devices, or wearables


• Ability to produce high-quality renders using KeyShot, Blender, or Fusion 360's rendering tools
