Job Title: Design Engineer- Plastics Design

Location: Bavdhan, Pune

Department: Product Development / Manufacturing Engineering

Position Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Manufacturing Design Engineer with expertise in plastic component design and process engineering to develop and industrialize premium Drinkware, Food & Beverage & Home appliance products.

The ideal candidate will bridge industrial design, materials engineering, and manufacturing feasibility, ensuring every product combines durability, aesthetics, and cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and development of plastic & elastomeric components.
  • Collaborate with industrial designers to convert aesthetic concepts into DFM-optimized 3D CAD models (using Creo & SolidWorks).
  • Define and validate plastic material selection considering performance, safety, and sustainability.
  • Work closely with suppliers to optimize injection moulding, over-moulding, and assembly processes.
  • Conduct tolerance stack-up, draft analysis, and verify mould flow simulations for manufacturability.
  • Develop and release engineering drawings, BOMs, and specifications in compliance with company standards.
  • Support tooling design reviews and first article inspections (FAI) during new product introduction (NPI).
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with quality, sourcing, and testing teams to meet performance and regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree: Mechanical engineering, Plastics Engineering.

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering.

  • Diploma / Certificate course in Tool Design.

  • 2-7 years of experience in plastic product design and manufacturing.

  • Surface design (Class A surfaces) in Creo, SolidWorks and GD&T principles.
  • Hands-on understanding of injection moulding, multishot / overmoulding, and multi-material single product design and assembly.
  • Familiarity with vacuum insulation, double-wall construction, and metal-plastic interfaces is a strong plus.
  • Experience with supplier collaboration and DFM reviews in global manufacturing setups.
  • Experience on design of Glassware products is an added advantage.
  • Problem-solving,fluent communication, and documentation skills.
