Role & responsibilities

Core responsibilities

Strategic and planning responsibilities

  • Define and execute quality strategy: Develop and implement the overall quality management strategy, policies, and systems for the organization and its projects.
  • Establish quality objectives and metrics: Set quality objectives and key performance indicators (KPIs) for projects, vendors, and contractors.
  • Conduct risk assessments: Identify potential quality risks and develop plans to mitigate them.

Project and operational responsibilities

  • Oversee QA/QC: Manage all quality assurance and quality control activities across projects, from procurement to final completion.
  • Manage inspections and testing: Ensure that materials, workmanship, and processes comply with company and regulatory standards through inspections, tests, and audits.
  • Handle non-conformances: Lead the root cause analysis for quality deviations and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Ensure regulatory compliance: Make sure all projects adhere to relevant regulations, standards (e.g., ISO, BIS, NBC, RERA), and codes.

Leadership and management responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team: Manage, train, and mentor a team of quality engineers and inspectors.
  • Foster a quality culture: Promote a culture of quality throughout the organization and encourage continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders: Act as a key liaison for quality-related matters with clients, consultants, architects, engineers, and statutory bodies.

Documentation and reporting responsibilities

  • Maintain records: Ensure comprehensive and accurate documentation of all quality-related activities, such as quality plans, test results, and audit reports.
  • Prepare reports: Prepare and present regular quality dashboards and reports to senior leadership, highlighting performance, issues, and improvement measures.

Preferred candidate profile

A Quality Head in a real estate developer company should have a minimum of 10 years of experience in quality management, with a strong preference for the construction or real estate sector. Key requirements include a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, extensive knowledge of quality standards, and proven leadership skills to oversee site-level quality control, compliance, and continuous improvement.
