Lead Breeder

Are you ready to take on a pivotal role in advancing our Hot pepper breeding program? At Enza Zaden India Pvt. Ltd, we are looking for a passionate Lead Breeder to provide timely and accurate support in all steps of our Hot pepper breeding program, ensuring the right selection decisions are made.

What are you going to do?

As a Lead Breeder- Hot pepper, you will relish using your creativity and innovative thinking to develop new ideas and solutions by exploring the latest scientific knowledge and technologies in Hot pepper breeding.

Your responsibilities will include

1. Accountable for leading, developing, motivating and coaching the assigned team members.

2. Provide input / improvement proposals to the Regional R&D Director in the preparation of regional strategic crop plans.

3. Define the breeding plan for the Hot pepper, ensuring alignment with the regional strategic crop plans.

4. Accountable for the planning and execution of breeding activities (selections, crossing schemes, conclusions, testing, etc.) and screening activities.

5. Manage/optimize breeding processes, progress, and performance. Leverage company assets and resources to implement new technologies for speeding up of breeding process with cross functional collaborations.

6. Ensure the maintenance of breeding records throughout the breeding cycles and implement Road to Digital (R2D) initiatives in the Hot pepper crop in the region to be able to make data-driven decisions.

7. Responsible for the advancement of material to R2 and R3 in close collaboration with M&S in the region and handover the material to Seed Production according to defined specifications and registration in the designed system.

8. Drive innovation of breeding technology and crop traits and enable the intellectual property strategy in the region by identifying needs and opportunities and deliver required data.

As a future colleague at Enza Zaden India Pvt. Ltd, you bring

• 9-12 yrs experience in Hot pepper breeding
• Educational background in Plant Science
• Through knowledge of plant breeding, modern methods of breeding and phytopathology
• Good market knowledge in the region
• Proven success in leading breeding programs on a large scale
• People management skills, able to lead others
• Program management skills
• Effective communication skills
• Good understanding and able to navigate cultural differences
• Able to write and execute breeding plans
• Proficient in the English and local language, both written and verbal
