 2. Position Requirements

Education

  • Postgraduate degree in Public Policy, Law, Economics, or Communications

  • MBA or equivalent qualification from a reputed institute (preferred)

Experience

  • 12–15 years of experience in corporate affairs, government relations, or public policy, preferably in infrastructure, energy, natural resources, or capital-intensive industries

  • Prior experience in handling central/state-level ministries, policy forums, and industry associations is essential

  • Exposure to global public policy frameworks and cross-border regulatory engagements will be an advantage

Key ResponsibilitiesA. Government & Regulatory Affairs

  • Engage with central and state ministries, regulatory bodies (MoEFCC, DPIIT, MCA, SEZ authorities, etc.), and local administrative agencies to build advocacy on issues affecting Essar's businesses

  • Track and analyse policy developments, propose responses and strategic interventions in alignment with business needs

  • Support business heads in securing regulatory approvals, policy clearances, or incentives for ongoing and upcoming projects

B. Public Policy & Advocacy

  • Develop policy briefs, talking points, and position papers for internal and external stakeholders

  • Represent Essar in industry coalitions, chambers, and think tanks to shape public policy discourse

  • Build networks with policy research organisations, media specialists, and government advisory units

C. Reputation Management & Thought Leadership

  • Collaborate with corporate communications to manage the external image of the Group with respect to policy and governance

  • Identify opportunities for thought leadership platforms, whitepaper releases, and public positioning of Essar's green transition and investment priorities

  • Draft and vet leadership remarks for government forums, conferences, and media engagement

D. Crisis Management & Sensitive Stakeholder Issues

  • Act as the point person on emerging regulatory or policy risks, issue-based escalations, and potential litigation exposures

  • Prepare communication strategies and position statements on behalf of the group for sensitive matters requiring government liaison

E. Internal Coordination & Strategic Alignment

  • Work closely with CEOs, CFOs, Legal, ESG, and Project Execution teams to translate policy changes into business impact assessments

  • Regularly brief the MD – Corporate Affairs and senior leadership on policy trends, risks, and opportunities

  • Maintain a central repository of key correspondence, filings, and representations made to government entities
