Job DescriptionPosition – Career Counsellor & Programme FacilitatorTiming – 10.30 to 7.30Location – Rotation between two centers of Vidya & Child –Noida - Sector 128 Branch and. Noida - Sector 37 BranchTarget working group – Grade 9 to 12Key Roles & Responsibilities –•Direct Career Counselling work with Children in Groups and Individually at two locations; Sector 128 Centre and providing support for Sector 37 Centre.•The Facilitator role involves:oUnderstanding, connecting, and building relationships with each child.oCreating a positive learning & inquisitive environment, where each child feels welcomed and encouraged to question and learn.oDesign and Implement Career sessions where each child is able to relate and work towards his/her Career path.oConsistently record and monitor progress of each child towards a meaningful career choice for themselves.oWorking with peer groups on regular basis to identify the critical needs of every child and applying innovative, positive methodologies to help each child overcome different challenges.oMaintain a respectful, progressive, and in-depth relationship with the family of the child.oFocus on self-learning and development to address the needs of each child.•CAREER COUNSELING WORK WITH CHILDRENoDirect work – group and individual work with Grade 9 to 12oConducting common / group sessions on career, stream etc. awareness for children and parentsoConducting and / or common / group sessions for exposure around various career fields and opportunitiesoConducting regular Career Guidance classes for Grade 9 to 12 (weekly basis) – with existing as well as new contentoConducting regular "Knowing the child" sessions to understand the background, interests, strengths etc. and full profile of every single childoAdvise students about what courses and educational programs they need for particular careers →professional as well as vocational courses, full time as well as part time coursesoAiding in the job search process by teaching them where to look for open positions and connecting them with job search resourcesoHelp students locate sources of financial support to pay for school and other training programsoTeach job-search skills such as interviewing, resume writing, and networking and help students practice them Administer personality and interest inventories and documenting each child's details with respect to career and related aspectsoCareer Form filling sessions; ensuring each child fills the Career FormoProject work with childrenoOrganizing exposure visits for childrenoEnabling children regarding various entrance examination forms & support in filling them out•Working with other staff membersoTaking feedback from other members -> academic faculty, programme members, mentors etc. about every single childoTraining of internal staff membersoAttending Child-wise discussion meetingsoTracking child-wise/group actions as decided during career discussionsoClass 9th & 11th - School identification•Working with external agenciesoWorking with existing partners in career space for psychometric testing, career sessions etc.oWorking with organizations/ agencies for internships, exposure visits, entrance coaching classes (for required children)•Overall Career Programme responsibilityoMajor part of the facilitator role entails DIRECT career related work with ChildrenoBecoming a part of the career content team and improving upon the career modules used for childrenoBecoming a part of the overall career team for full yearly planning, quarterly planning, training of internal staff members etc.oIdentifying needs around –Entrance coaching requirementsAlternative paths for career – vocational, earning with learning model etc.Facilitating partnerships / new avenues etc. for fulfilling such requirementsoBecoming a part of the overall career team that plans for career process, improvements, partnerships etc. in alignment with the vision of the organizationoList of College/Institutes/University identification basis courses chosen by childrenoDonor related reportingMinimum Expectations•Minimum experience of 5 to 6 years in direct individual career Counseling for age 14 to 18 years•Readiness to do directly engage with children and parents (and not just manage / coordinate)•Time distribution of the roles & responsibilities would be –o70% direct individual work with Childreno30% rest of the responsibilities•Being updated with current career fields, jobs, industries, courses•Good knowledge of Computers and English language – both written and spoken•Preferably career counseling experience at a similar education based NGO or with a school•Exposure to psychometric testing, counseling techniques, methodologiesThis is a full time position and requires physical presence at the assigned centres. Candidates without relevant experience will NOT be considered.
