A Planning Engineer with expertise in Microsoft Project (MSP) and experience in corporate office projects for Chennai would have the following job responsibilities and skills:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning & Scheduling:
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules specifically for corporate office projects in Chennai, using MSP.
  • Plan and track project timelines from design through to construction and handover, ensuring adherence to deadlines.
  • Resource Management:
  • Allocate and manage resources (labor, materials, equipment) efficiently to meet project demands.
  • Ensure the availability of resources for different phases of the corporate office fit-out.
  • Progress Monitoring & Reporting:
  • Regularly monitor progress against the project plan and update the schedule in MSP.
  • Identify potential delays and provide corrective action plans to keep the project on track.
  • Prepare and present progress reports and schedule updates to stakeholders, project managers, and corporate clients.
  • Cost Control:
  • Ensure alignment between project schedule and budget, working closely with the cost control team to track expenses.
  • Manage change orders and their impact on both the schedule and the project cost.
  • Coordination with Project Teams:
  • Coordinate with various teams, including design, procurement, and construction, to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Liaise with contractors and vendors involved in the corporate office construction process, ensuring timely delivery of services.
  • Risk Management:
  • Identify risks related to project timelines, such as site-specific challenges in Chennai, labor shortages, or supply chain issues.
  • Develop contingency plans and mitigation strategies for potential delays.
  • Client Interaction:
  • Collaborate with corporate clients in Chennai to ensure that the project timeline aligns with their business operations and occupancy deadlines.
  • Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, building codes, and corporate standards, especially those relevant to office spaces in Chennai.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proficient in MS Project (MSP) for project planning, scheduling, and monitoring.
  • Experience in managing corporate office construction or fit-out projects, particularly in urban settings like Chennai.
  • Strong understanding of project management principles, risk management, and resource allocation.
  • Excellent communication skills for coordinating with diverse teams and corporate clients.
  • A degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is usually required.
