Core Responsibilities

  • Fleet Maintenance Oversight:Schedule and supervise preventative maintenance, inspections, and necessary repairs for vehicles like trucks, tractors, and vans.
  • Team Leadership:Recruit, train, and manage a team of mechanics and technicians, ensuring they follow safety protocols and quality standards.
  • Budget and Cost Management:Develop and manage maintenance budgets, monitor repair costs, and negotiate with vendors for parts and services.
  • Compliance and Safety:Ensure the fleet meets manufacturer specifications, regulatory requirements (such as Department of Transportation), and environmental standards.
  • Record Keeping:Maintain accurate records for each vehicle, including maintenance logs, repair history, and inspection reports.
  • Emergency Response:Coordinate responses to emergency repairs and unexpected breakdowns to minimize vehicle downtime.
  • Vendor Management:Source, evaluate, and negotiate with third-party vendors for parts, specialized repairs, and other services.
