Role Overview
The Purchase Officer Chemical will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and procuring raw materials, chemicals, and related supplies at competitive prices while ensuring quality and timely delivery. The role requires strong vendor management skills, knowledge of chemical industry compliance, and an understanding of market trends.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement & Sourcing
Identify, evaluate, and qualify suppliers for chemicals and related materials.
- Request quotations, negotiate prices, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
Ensure procurement meets quality, cost, and timeline requirements.
Vendor Management
Maintain strong relationships with existing suppliers.
- Develop alternate vendor sources to ensure uninterrupted supply.
Conduct periodic supplier performance evaluations.
Purchase Planning & Coordination
Coordinate with production, R&D, and warehouse teams for material requirements
- Prepare purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of goods.
Monitor inventory levels and place orders accordingly.
Compliance & Documentation
Ensure all purchases comply with chemical industry regulations, safety, and environmental norms.
Maintain accurate purchase records and documentation for audits.
Market Analysis
Keep track of market trends, price fluctuations, and availability of chemicals.
- Provide cost-saving suggestions without compromising quality.
Key Skills Required
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Knowledge of chemical properties, handling, and storage.
- Familiarity with ERP / SAP systems
- Vendor development and market sourcing expertise.
Qualifications
- Graduate / Diploma in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in chemical procurement.
- Knowledge of hazardous materials handling and regulatory compliance preferred.
