Key Responsibilities**
:
Database Administration
: Perform daily administration tasks across multiple database platforms, including user management, access control, and schema changes. This involves working with relational databases (DB2, PostgreSQL, MySQL, MSSQL) and NoSQL databases (MongoDB).
Performance Monitoring & Tuning
: Monitor database performance, analyze metrics, and identify bottlenecks. An L2 DBA is responsible for implementing performance tuning solutions such as query optimization, indexing strategies, and database configuration adjustments.
Backup and Recovery
: Execute and monitor database backup jobs to ensure data integrity and availability. Test and validate recovery procedures regularly to ensure they are effective in a disaster scenario.
Troubleshooting
: Diagnose and resolve database-related issues, including connectivity problems, performance degradation, and service interruptions. This often involves working with application development and system administration teams to find root causes.
Patching and Upgrades
: Plan and execute database patching and minor version upgrades to maintain security and incorporate new features.
Automation
: Develop and maintain scripts (e.g., in Bash or Python) to automate routine administrative tasks, such as monitoring, reporting, and maintenance.
