A quality engineer is a professional responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining quality standards to ensure that a company's products or services meet regulatory requirements and customer expectations

Key roles and responsibilities

  • Create and implement quality standards: Design and implement quality control systems and inspection protocols for products and manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct inspections and audits: Perform regular audits and tests of materials, equipment, and processes to verify compliance with established standards like ISO 9001, Six Sigma, or industry-specific regulations.
  • Perform root cause analysis: Investigate product and production issues to identify the source of defects or inconsistencies and develop corrective and preventive action (CAPA) plans.
  • Analyze data and report findings: Use statistical tools and data analysis to monitor quality performance, identify trends, and prepare detailed reports for management and other teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement: Apply methodologies like Lean and Six Sigma to optimize processes, reduce waste, and enhance overall efficiency and product quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Work closely with design, manufacturing, procurement, and supplier teams to build quality into every stage of the production life cycle.
