Job summary:

State Business Head – Retail Gold Loan Division

We are seeking a seasoned leader to drive the overall strategy, P&L management, and operational excellence for our retail gold loan business across Tamil Nadu . The ideal candidate will bring extensive NBFC and gold loan sector experience, with a proven track record of scaling business, expanding markets, and delivering sustained profitability in leading financial institutions.

This position requires a dynamic, results-driven professional with exceptional team leadership skills, strong expertise in branch network management, and the ability to design customer-focused lending solutions. The State Business Head will play a pivotal role in accelerating business growth, enhancing operational efficiency, and solidifying our standing as a trusted name in the financial services sector.

Key responsibilities.

Business growth and strategy

Develop and execute comprehensive state-level strategies to achieve business goals, including aggressive growth in Asset Under Management (AUM), customer base, and revenue.

Identify and penetrate new markets and micro-markets within the state by establishing new branches and business channels to expand the company's footprint.

Conduct market analysis, competitor mapping, and product benchmarking to create and deploy relevant, competitive products and pricing strategies.

Financial management

Manage the state-level P&L, including budgeting, forecasting, and expense control, to ensure consistent profitability.

Collaborate with senior leadership to set and achieve AUM growth targets and optimize interest rates and product offerings.

Monitor portfolio quality and asset recovery, ensuring low non-performing assets (NPAs) through robust collection practices.

Team leadership and development

Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing and motivated team, including Cluster Heads, Area Managers, and Branch Managers.

Set clear performance goals (KPAs and KPIs) for the team and ensure consistent achievement of business targets.

Foster a high-performance, customer-centric culture that aligns with company values and promotes operational excellence.

Implement continuous training and development programs to upskill team members.

Risk and compliance

Oversee all branch operations to ensure strict adherence to regulatory guidelines set by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and internal company policies.

Implement robust risk management practices, including collateral management and fraud prevention.

Ensure timely internal and external audits are conducted and findings are addressed promptly.

Operations and customer service

Drive operational efficiency by leveraging technology and process improvements to ensure a seamless and fulfilling customer experience.

Ensure high-quality customer service across all touchpoints, leading to increased customer satisfaction and retention.

Maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including valuers and other third-party agencies.

Qualifications

Education

A bachelor's degree is required.

A master's degree in business administration (MBA) or a related field is preferred.

Experience

10-15+ years of total experience in the financial services sector.

At least 5 years of senior leadership experience in an NBFC or banking environment, specifically in the gold loan or retail lending space.

Proven track record of managing a large-scale retail business and delivering consistent growth.

Skills

Deep expertise in retail lending, particularly gold loans, with strong P&L management skills.

Strong leadership, team management, and mentoring capabilities.

Exceptional strategic thinking and business acumen.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills.

Thorough understanding of regulatory compliance and risk management practices.

Proficiency in leveraging technology for business growth and operational efficiency
