House Manager Job Description

Job Brief

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive House Manager to oversee the daily operations of a private residence. The ideal candidate will ensure the household runs smoothly, efficiently, and in alignment with the preferences of the homeowners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Daily Operations: Supervise and coordinate all household activities including cleaning, maintenance, and security.
  • Staff Management: Hire, train, and manage domestic staff such as housekeepers, chefs, gardeners, and drivers.
  • Budgeting & Finance: Manage household budgets, track expenses, and maintain financial records.
  • Maintenance Oversight: Coordinate with contractors for repairs, renovations, and upkeep of the property.
  • Event Planning: Organize and manage social events, family gatherings, and special occasions.
  • Inventory Control: Monitor and replenish household supplies, groceries, and furnishings.
  • Travel & Scheduling: Arrange travel plans, appointments, and family schedules.
  • Personal Assistance: Run errands, manage calendars, and support family members with day-to-day needs.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a House Manager or in a similar role
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Discretion and confidentiality
  • Familiarity with smart home systems and household technologies
  • Ability to handle emergencies and resolve conflicts calmly

Preferred Background

  • Degree in Hospitality, Business Administration, or related field (preferred but not mandatory)
  • Certification in Household Management or Estate Management (a plus)
  • Minimum 35 years of experience in a supervisory household role
