About this opportunity

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Captioner to join our dynamic team. This role involves converting audio from diverse media content, including films and TV shows in American, British, or Australian English, into precise and readable captions. You will contribute to enhancing accessibility for hearing-impaired audiences by delivering high-quality subtitles that ensure clarity and synchronization.

What you will do

  • Interpret and transcribe spoken dialogue from various media content accurately.
  • Type subtitles quickly and with high accuracy while ensuring synchronization.
  • Use different captioning techniques such as pre-prepared captioning and transcription.
  • Proofread and edit auto-generated subtitles to maintain linguistic accuracy and correct grammar, including appropriate regional slang.
  • Maintain quality standards and ensure timely delivery of captioning assignments.

You will bring

  • Strong command of English spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
  • Fast and accurate typing skills with the ability to transcribe in real-time or near real-time.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in transcription.
  • Openness to feedback and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Prior experience working with American, British, or Australian English media content.
  • Effective time management skills and ability to work under pressure.
  • Team collaboration experience and adaptability to new tools and technologies.
  • Cultural sensitivity and willingness to learn regional accents and slang.
  • Flexibility to work across different time zones.
  • 4–7 years of relevant experience in captioning, subtitling, or language services.
  • Bachelor's degree in Language, Media, Film, Communication, Transcription, or related fields.
