Job Title: Bus Admin and Operational Mgmt

Purpose of the role  

Growth Performance – Management and Reporting – Accountable for IWPB Ops overall demand/growth and investment management as per defined cadence. The responsibilities will cover regular updates to business stakeholders, monthly updates to IWPB COO, collaboration with partner teams in IWPB COO for service performance visibility and SLA management aligned to service principles / guidelines. The role holder shall be working with market and Ops leads to ensure our service standards remain aggressive and ambitious to be market leading. This responsibility extends in managing all required data on Anaplan system timely and accurately.Financial planning and reporting – Accountable for IWPB Ops overall financial planning (covering both cost and headcount). The responsibility will cover managing quarterly forecast requirements and monthly resource planning, (RP), annual financial planning (FRP) – providing underlying financial forecasting and analysis to support the service delivery across all segments within IWPBData / MI – Driving MI agenda for IWPB Ops presenting and explaining financial and/or service performance information to both internal and external stakeholders. E.g. IWPB Ops Business Performance Analytics, etc. to drive Optimisation opportunities, common initiatives, fungible workforce etc. This shall include data analysis, SLAs and volumetrics trend analysis to support demand and hiring management.

Tracking transformation benefits/efficiencyDrive and manage all centrally driven "project-like" activities for IWPB OpsClean up of open roles/position ID management for sound headcount management governance and working closely with Headcount Management Team

Drive data and MI agenda – providing underlying financial forecasting and analysis to support the delivery of growth across IWPB OperationsResponsible for execution of efficiency initiates initiated by the IWPB COO function in respective Business ServicesEnsure Business Service Governance is supported and executes properly.Customers / StakeholdersProvides data led insight for stakeholders.Support all initiatives and ensure implementation in Business ServiceSupport the execution of the strategy, financials, headcount management of Business ServicesRegularly meet with stakeholders providing SLA volume, financial and performance updates

Major Challenges

The role requires understanding of ambiguous asks, translating complex business situations into tangible goals and actions in a limited amount of time.The role requires understanding 1) of the industry in a global context, 2) of the HSBC context and 3) of the drive for cost savings.The role holder will need to translate the Ops strategy into an operational strategy that the team can implement.The role holder will need to navigate complex data environment.Proactive identification of issues and initiation of structured discussions with the key stakeholdersThe role holder will need to demonstrate the ability to multitask and prioritize and will require strong analytical and communication skills.

Role Context

The role is a key part of the IWPB Ops team and is responsible for driving data driven approach to management of the business service.

Role Dimensions

The role reports to the Head of Business Management of WPB Operations and will have oversight over a $0.3b cost base and ~9K FTEs in over 30 jurisdictions globally. The role will also support working closely together with the pillars of the Operations COO team to deliver strategic, financial and reporting/planning, MI, governance and efficiency expertise and support. 

Management of Risk

The jobholder will also adhere to and be able to demonstrate adherence to internal controls. This will be achieved by adherence to all relevant procedures, keeping appropriate records and, where appropriate, by the timely implementation of internal and external audit points, including issues raised by external regulators.The jobholder will implement the Group compliance policy by containing compliance risk in liaison with Global Head of Compliance, Global Compliance Officer, Area Compliance Officer, or Local Compliance Officer. The term 'compliance' embraces all relevant financial services laws, rules, and codes with which the business must comply.This will be achieved by adhering to all relevant processes/procedures and by liaising with Compliance department about new business initiatives at the earliest opportunity. Also, and when applicable, by ensuring adequate resources are in place and training is provided, fostering a compliance culture and optimising relations with regulators

To be successful you will:

Strong Data management and visualisation skillsStrong story-telling and power point skills.Prior Data or Business Management experience or management consulting experience preferred.Strong financial analytical skills, with the ability to present and explain financial analysis in a clear, precise manner is essential.Self-motivated leader/positive role model with excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to develop strong business relationships with internal teams and stakeholders.Excellent time management, planning and organisation skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage business tasks.Excellent written and spoken communication skills with experience of successfully influencing others, negotiating effectively.Communication – ability to communicate complex issues concisely verbally, and in written form.Analysis/strategy – the ability to analyse complex issues and identify / assess the long-term, strategic implications for the Bank and its customers.Highly skilled in the use of Microsoft Excel, specifically the capability to manipulate complex data (financial, headcount, WFM to name a few)Attention to detail combined with strong delivery focus and ability to meet aggressive timeframes with quality results.Ability to cope with ambiguity and to translate it into tangible tasks.
