Role Overview
The Government Sales Manager will be responsible for driving sales of infrastructure or engineering products to government departments, public sector undertakings (PSUs), and related agencies. This role involves managing the entire sales cycle, from identifying opportunities to securing contracts, while ensuring compliance with government procurement norms.
Key Responsibilities
- Business Development:
- Identify and pursue sales opportunities within government bodies, PSUs, and municipal corporations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers in government organizations.
- Tender Management:
- Monitor government tenders, RFPs, and procurement portals.
- Prepare and submit bids in compliance with technical and commercial requirements.
- Sales Strategy:
- Develop and execute strategies to achieve sales targets in the government segment.
- Analyze market trends and competitor activities to identify growth opportunities.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Liaise with internal teams (engineering, finance, legal) to ensure timely and accurate proposal submissions.
- Represent the company in government meetings, exhibitions, and industry forums.
- Compliance & Documentation:
- Ensure adherence to government procurement policies and statutory requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of tenders, contracts, and correspondence.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field (MBA preferred).
- Experience: 5+ years in B2G (Business-to-Government) sales, preferably in infrastructure or engineering products.
- Skills:
- Strong understanding of government procurement processes and e-tendering platforms.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to manage complex projects and meet strict deadlines.
- Other: Willingness to travel extensively for client meetings and site visits.
