Objective

To effectively  perform the nursing procedure of improving patients health , maintaining hygiene and provide remarkable services to patients and their relatives in the ICU.

Key Responsibilities

Patient Related

• · Following the treatments prescribed by doctors for patients
• · Providing and checking medications offered to  patients as prescribed by doctors 
• · Should be informed about patient history details for processing treatment
• · Maintaining the crush cart and checking item availability on daily basis
• · Coordination with physio and attendants for mobilization of patients
• · Providing timely medication as per prescription to the patient 
• · Anwering to the patient calls immediately
• · Informing any medication error to ward incharge/nursing incharge for timely action
• · Supporting the ward administrator on patient rounds
• · Abiding to the ICP practices at all times
• · Following the surgical procedures
• · Maintaining IO chart of patients
• · Checking the vital signs of patients on hourly basis
• · Informing dietician about the patient diet changes
• · Maintaining the personal hygiene of the patients including clothes, bath, hair, spunge etc
• · Practicing and maintaining hygiene at all times 
• · Preparing transfer sheets in case of patient transfer in any other room/ward
• · Informing patients' relative or MO before conducting any procedure on patient
• · Documentation for  patients at the time of emergency
• · Maintaining medication sheet of patients and following the same
• · Maintaining the medicine drawer in the ICU

Administration

• · Assisting in admission and discharge of patients
• · Taking hand over from previous shifts
• · Practicing the basic nursing care on a daily routine
• · Checking of inventory availability everytime before taking hand over
• · Requisition of items fromonline intrastore
• · Maintaining a surveillence report
• · Maitaining register of daily patient admissions
• · Inventory management of stock required in ICU
• · Maintainance of medicine drawer
• · Replacing any item used in ICU or on cart with a new one without fail
• · Performing all the parameters listed on the activity sheet daily
• · Returning of all the medicines to the pharmacy at the time of patient discharge
• · Filling of monitoring form in case of blood requirement
• · Mandatory file making of patient data during night shifts
• · Thorough checking of documents at the time of discharge
• · Abiding to nursing protocols strictly like  no jewellery on floor, clean shave etc
• · Administrating medical requirements of the patients
• · Performing the duties as and when assigned by the ICU administrator
• · Mandatorily attend the trainings he/she is nominated for.
• · Should maintain cleanliness of nursing station 
• · Abiding to the MRD checklist and guidelines
