Job Description:
Position Title: Dispatcher
 
Job Summary:
  • The Dispatcher plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth and efficient coordination of resources, personnel, and vehicles for timely delivery of goods or services. They are responsible for dispatching orders, coordinating schedules, and communicating with drivers and customers.


  1. Order Dispatch:

    • Receive and review customer orders or service requests.
    • Determine the most efficient routes and schedules for dispatching orders.
    • Assign orders to appropriate drivers or technicians.
    • Ensure accurate recording of order details, including addresses, delivery instructions, and special requirements.

  2. Schedule Coordination:

    • Coordinate schedules for drivers or service technicians.
    • Monitor and adjust schedules in response to changes, delays, or emergencies.
    • Communicate any schedule updates or changes to relevant parties.

  3. Communication:

    • Serve as the primary point of contact for drivers, technicians, and customers.
    • Communicate order details, instructions, and updates to drivers.
    • Provide information and assistance to customers regarding order status, delivery times, and any issues or concerns.

  4. Routing and Navigation:

    • Use routing software or GPS systems to optimize delivery routes.
    • Provide drivers with accurate directions and navigation assistance.
    • Monitor traffic conditions and adjust routes as needed to avoid delays.

  5. Tracking and Monitoring:

    • Monitor the progress of orders and track the location of vehicles.
    • Keep accurate records of order statuses, delivery times, and any incidents or exceptions.
    • Notify customers of any delays or issues with their orders.

  6. Problem Resolution:

    • Address any issues or concerns raised by drivers or customers.
    • Resolve conflicts or problems related to scheduling, routing, or deliveries.
    • Escalate complex issues to management as needed.

  7. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate records of dispatch activities, including orders, schedules, and communications.
    • Generate reports on dispatch performance, including metrics such as on-time delivery rates and efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Any graduate
  • Previous experience in dispatching, logistics, or a related field preferred.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and software used for dispatching and tracking (e.g., dispatch software, GPS systems).
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of local geography and traffic patterns may be advantageous.
