JOB DESCRIPTION - WELDER / FABRICATOR (SHIPYARD EXPERIENCE)

Location: Bahrain

Employment Type: Full-Time

Department: Fabrication / Production

Reports To: Welding Supervisor / Foreman

Position Overview:

We are seeking experienced TIG and MIG Welders with proven backgrounds in shipyard or marine fabrication work. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with a variety of welding processes, metals, and marine structures, ensuring all work meets the highest standards of safety, precision, and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform TIG, MIG, and flux-core welding on ferrous and non-ferrous metals (carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, etc.).
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and welding specifications accurately.
  • Fabricate, assemble, and repair hulls, decks, bulkheads, piping, and structural components according to shipyard standards.
  • Conduct fit-up and layout of parts prior to welding.
  • Ensure all welds meet ABS, DNV, quality requirements (if applicable).
  • Perform weld inspections, touch-ups, and rework as required.
  • Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working condition.
  • Follow all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and OSHA regulations in a marine/industrial environment.
  • Work collaboratively with supervisors, fitters, and quality inspectors to achieve production targets.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum 3–5 years of welding experience in a shipyard, offshore, or heavy industrial environment.
  • Proficiency in TIG, MIG, and flux-core (FCAW) welding processes.
  • Ability to weld in multiple positions (flat, vertical, overhead, etc.).
  • Experience working on vessels, barges, offshore platforms, or ship repair projects preferred.
  • Knowledge of welding symbols, tolerances, and marine fabrication standards.
  • Welding certifications (AWS, ABS, NAVSEA, or equivalent) are a strong asset.
  • Ability to pass company-administered welding tests and fit-up assessments.
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and safety awareness.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in a shipyard or industrial environment with noise and movement.
